When designing the Triple-Four Chronograph, Sir Terence invited me to Bibendum to discuss the project over lunch and Claude Bosi (Head Chef) came over to the table to say hello to the boss. Bibendum is in Michelin House where the first Michelin Guide for the British Isles was actually published and introduced in 1911.
At a subsequent meeting, Sir Terence told me that Claude was to be the Head Chef of the Brooklands Restaurant in the Peninsula Hotel, Grosvenor Place, and he should have a Brooklands Chronograph. We agreed and set about producing a special caseback for Claude. The caseback had Claudes name, two panels referencing the studded tyres that Bibendum was showing off in the restaurant stained-glass window, and two sapphires to represent the two Michelin Stars Claude had won for Bibendum.
We delivered this very special watch and Claude went on to win two Michelin stars for the Brooklands Restaurant within 6 months of opening – an incredible achievement.
We went on to make four more of these special watches and they are worn by very talented Chefs who each had an impact on the life of my son Michael.
