How we help
Buying Time is a charitable, grant making foundation dedicated to creating meaningful impact. The funds raised through our watch auctions enable us to support exceptional partner charities working with young people facing serious or terminal illness, as well as individuals and families who meet our criteria.
Applications are reviewed quarterly to ensure every grant is thoughtfully directed where it can make the greatest difference. To demonstrate the impact your generosity can have, we have made five initial donations of £1000 to five inspiring charities.
Below are some of the first organisations we have been proud to support.
Donation 1
The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust
The grant was increased to £2000 and shared between four families which the charity identified as suffering extreme hardship whilst coping with a devastating diagnosis. Whilst the grant will be used to “fire-fight” for these families, being able to lift their financial worries would be the equivalent of a special treat for them.
Donation 2
Thames Hospice
The grant made to Thames Hospice, helped 3 young families, facing a devastating family loss to make memories together. One example being Ryan, a young patient in his mid-30’s. The Hospice were able to make one of Ryan’s dreams come true, by organising a trip to London zoo to feed the meerkats with his wife and young children who are both under 6.
Donation 3
Trekstock
Trekstock supports young adults diagnosed with cancer. Early onset cancer rates are rising – with more people being diagnosed with cancer before they turn 50 than ever before. But cancer is still seen by many as a disease that only affects older people. Trekstock is the only charity that supports those living life alongside cancer in their 20s to 40s and we believe it’s time cancer had a rebrand. Because while early onset cancer is still relatively rare, 99 people in the UK from this age bracket are diagnosed every day.
Donation 4
Something To Look Forward To
“My name is Serena, I am 25 years old and live at home with my parents due to my diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer. Having stage 4 cancer so young is incredibly hard to deal with, I feel that my life has been robbed from me.
Since my diagnosis, I have lost a lot of confidence and feel very anxious at times. I didn’t know I was capable of going on holiday because of this. I was gifted a 3 night stay at Gothelney Farm in Somerset via the charity Something To Look Forward To.”
Donation 5
Willow
We are delighted to support the wonderful work of Willow who organise special treats, days out, breaks away, and special days at home for young people aged 16-40 living with a terminal illness.
